Unfortunately , in my neck of the woods, deer have very few of their natural preditors left, and almost as little habitat. What happens is the "herd" grows beyond what's available to sustain it. Many of them end up starving to death in the winter. Hunters are very necessary to keep the population to a level where the "herd" ( is that the right term?) can survive. I wouldn't turn my nose up to a nice venison stew, either ljsdesign cabanaben can not agree more. When over population threatens the herd, harvesting has to be done. This is for the sake of the animal, people, land damage, and let us not forget insurance companies. We are having bouts of chronic wasting disease, horrible way for any living thing to die. We have to understand as our need for expansion grows, we are loosing our natural resources. We have to find a middle ground, or we all will be gone; Mother Earth will still be here. I love the tenderloin of the venison, so yummy! — Comment removed by clipper — Sorry ski that was my error, I will rub your feet. Slice steaks thin, put in quart jar with one beef bullion cube, steam can at 10 pounds pressure for 90 minutes, tastes great, will keep for years with out refrigeration, makes great hoagies, barbecue, and chili. |
