It was Feb/Mar of 06. I was in the doctor office's waiting room with my brother. Our mother had gone back with the doctor to have some fluid drained from a something or other on her side. They wanted to do a biopsy to make sure it wasn't cancerous.

While we were waiting, I picked up one of the Time magazines that was laying out. You know how it is at doctor's offices... As I was reading the magazine, I saw the article from which I'm clipping. I found it very interesting and rather timely, because I was feeling the exact same way about hip-hop at the time. It was a good read.

There were a lot of things changing in my life around that time. I had just moved back home with my wife. I was beginning to explore different music genres myself. What the article did was validate for me that it was okay for me to "sell out", if you will, because the world was more rich than my previous experiences and others were living it.
