Now this rule has been relaxed, and supermarkets are competing with butchers on selling meat, including horse meat. Moreover, horse meat is probably less in demand than before. As a consequence, horse-specialized butcher shops tend to disappear. This is one of the few remaining "Boucherie Chevaline" (Horse Butcher's Shop) signs in Paris.
