The drugs were not to blame so much as the process of climbing back out of dangerous levels of depression. That has been a prevalent idea. I clipped some articles about research that the CDC has completed. Since antidepressants have been discouraged in the United States, the suicide rate, which had been falling, has begun a general increase. In the report there was a comparison of similar countries where the antidepressants continue to be prescribed and the suicide rate continues to be stable...not rising. I know this data is tentative, yet the CDC is a rather conservative group. Check out my clips on this topic. |
