diodisegno says: So this is how we're living? There is a city oridinance or law in CA or FL right now I believe (I will try to look it up)that prohibits homeless people from pan-handling (begging) except within designated areas on the sidewalk. If they get caught outside these boundries they can be arrested, and then fed 3 square meals a day...in JAIL. People that make laws that make no sense really irratate me. I agree ..... damn irritating and shameful. Can't they give them work to do? If they offer a job could be that not all of them stays there. Don't you think? I think instead of spending resources arresting people who are trying to help, there should be something akin to a 'homeless park' that offers baths and access to services. We're not doing ourselves any favors by chasing them from neighborhood to neighborhood. They need a home first, then a job. Or they need both at the same time. They have to have somewhere to keep their things, clothes, their toothbrush and to wash every day and so on. I think it would be too hard to keep a steady job, if you also are struggling to survive and having to live under a bridge. Whatever the reason -or no reason- they may have to be homeless isn't charity a right? For some it could be even a -religious or moral- obligation. Why is it legal to feed 24 and not 26, or 200? Sad, very very sad I agree! It is totally ridiculous that there should any limit at ALL on feeding the hungry or helping someone in need and to be arrested for it even? It's wrong that it has come to, that merely doing a good deed will get you hauled of to jail. This is happening in Las Vegas Nevada too |
