Mr. Gonzales displays a frightening lack of common sense and honesty by making this claim. Even Arlen Specter, a Senator from his side of the aisle, so to speak, became flustered with disbelief when he came up with this response concerning habeas. It is obvious this attorney general is blinded by his own ideology to the point of trampling on the rights of us citizens whenever the agenda of he and his neo-con brethren dictate it must.

The thing that really troubles me about Gonzales, Schreibe, is that I sincerely believe he has a sick mind. I mean, this is the guy who has stood by Bush's right to torture detainees along with the his right to prevent them from having any charges brought against them, and holding them indefinitely. He actually sees nothing wrong with these actions, nor does he consider them unconstitutional. Where does a man develop a mindset such as this, and how do we, as American citizens, permit the president to appoint such a person to the highest law enforcement job in the country?

Zasel......for the past six years Bush has been appointing political hacks who have gone along with whatever Bush and Company wanted to do. Gonzales had to be confirmed by Congress for the job of Attorney General. He had no problem being confirmed because of the "rubber stamp" congress that has been criminal in their lack of oversight in many things.....including the war in Iraq. Bush raised his right hand and swore to protect the Constitution at his inauguration.....ever since that time, he has done nothing but thumb his nose at the Constitution!

You're absolutely correct schreibe. Mr. Bush has trampled on our Constitution to the point of criminality. And yet, the equally corrupt "rubber stamp" Congress has permitted him to get away with it constantly. Every time an investigation about his administrations actions have been started, the majority Republicans gave it short-shrift or passed it to the way back burner. Just as Pat Roberts did with the investigation of how the White House used the intelligence leading up to the Iraq invasion. Now with the Dems in charge, we have to hope they will live up to their word and hold this guy and his henchmen accountable for what they have done or enabled.
