Make sure you run on firm sand, running on soft, loose sand can contribute to the development of fasciitis or tendonitis. Running barefoot on the sand can help increase the strength of the muscles in your feet, but is not recommended for individuals with chronic foot problems or diabetes. More on barefoot running.
