I think the picture with the red plane added in shows very clearly where the plane went and if you look you can see where the wings hit the building. Remember, those wings are made of hollow aluminum. In other words, they are just big aluminum cans. They went smush right up against the walls of the Pentagon. The towers fell because the jet fuel burning was so hot that it caused structural failure, even below the point of impact, but at the Pentagon, the fire was contained to the very small area as shown in the photos and the upper-floor/roof-section as shown in the photos didn't even ignite or suffer physical damage to the point of being unrecognizable. Yeah. That's sounds like a really believable outcome. BTW, what happened to the engines? The Pentagon was a completely different type of structure than the WTC. First off, it is relatively low to the ground, so there weren't all those stories above it to collapse the entire building (although the floors above the crash did collapse down into the hole created by the airliner). Second, it is a concrete structure which is much tougher and much more resistant to weakening due to fire than the WTC was. Even then, it did take significant damage from the collision. And am I the only one who can see perfectly where the plane and it's wings impacted in the above picture with the red plane overlay? BTW, what happened to the engines?It's called extreme heat by way of fire with an accerelant (jet fuel), crushing impact and explosions. Not too mention the fact the aluminum shelled aircraft was heavy with fuel, and hit a hardened concrete structure. What is amazing is they were able to retrieve the aircraft black boxes, albeit horribly damaged and non-readable. BTW those black boxes are built very rugged, even to withstand high temps. People seem to think airliners are made out of ten inches of stainless steel or something. When I grew up out in the country we burned our own trash. And I was always amazed what a simple trash fire did to an aluminum can. An airliner is nothing but a big aluminum can, and this can was crushed against a concrete building and then burned in a fuel fire. It is amazing to me how much of it survived. |
