"Each November we are asked to pause and honor them, which is, or should be, an honor in itself. After the events of the last week at Fort Hood in Texas, with their reminder of the sacrifices that the men and women of the military make for us, Veterans Day will hold special meaning this year."

If America had ANY respect for those who really have the heart-felt need to protect their country against foreign aggression, it would not have sent the military into any of this long list of countries that were invaded unilaterally since WW2. http://bit.ly/34rMUt

By doing this, by training them not as protectors, but as cheap hired killers and then sending them to act as cannon fodder, they were betrayed.

War profiteers have turned America into a pariah state laughed at and hated by people all over the world.

President Eisenhower warned against them. Fifty year later they are still running rampant. The list above does not even include the latest figures from Iraq and Afghanistan: 100 000...

aperiozar, next time just say, "I hate America, I hate freedom. I hate myself." It's much shorter to write and takes less of my time. If I wanted to read nonsense, I'd read ratilfarts, darkfarce or beanz.

To the non-radical leftists on the site who don't hate freedom as much as themselves like aperiozar, Wednesday is Veteran’s Day. It began as Armistice Day, noting the the end of the first world war, November 11, 1918.

In the 1950s, it was expanded to become a day to honor all U. S. veterans. This country has been honored by the service of many, many men and women over the years, serving in the uniforms of our country.

We should honor them, remembering all those that served, especial...

Enough of the propaganda. The last time soldiers really fought for American freedoms was 1776, maybe 1812 too. That is the only war that purchased us some freedoms. In fact dissent in WWI would get you thrown in an internment camp, because they had to threaten American's freedoms to get that war going.

And before you label me "left wing" or "libertarian" or "pacifist" see Pat Buchanan's book "The Unnecessary War", which tears down WWI and WWII simultaneously, and which Americans all resisted. Then read [url=http://www.amazon.com/Day-Deceit-Truth-About-Harbor/dp/0743201299]Day of Deceit about FDR and ...

Clipmark on Lusitania: How Americans Were Tricked into WWI

New Light of Gulf of Tonkin, written by By Captain Ronnie E. Ford, U.S. Army. 28 July, 1997.

Funny, no one seems to "honor" these military veterans like Stinnett and Ford who with credibility try to tell the public the truth about the start of these wars. SHOULDN'T WE HONOR THESE VETERANS WHO TRY AND TELL US THE TRUTH A BIT MORE?

Thank you blueridge, for your insightful posts.

I notice that right wingers get extremely uncomfortable when confronted with facts. Their world view is based on greed, selfishness and raw emotion.

Facts are totally foreign to the right winger. Their brains don't work on that principle. I am beginning to suspect a horrible thing: that being a right winger is a genetic malfunction of the brain.

Break up the "left" and "right" paradigms. WWI and WWII were led by Democrat Presidents, JFK pushed Vietnam before Johnson surged, and Obama continues the same War policy in Afghanistan and Pakistan with his own surges.

Wake up...both left and right do this.

When I say "left" or "right" I don't mean it along traditional party lines. I know what you say: there are right wingers in the Democrats as their are progressive people in the Republican Party.

What is really scary is the notion that the American President does not actually run the country. That would explain your remark that "both left and right (Presidents) do this".

Whoever becomes President has to pay back those who funded his election campaign - not necessarily in cash. These people have no allegiance to any flag. They have no moral restraints to use soldiers as cannon fodder or to kill countless civilians as long as they make money in the process.

Iraq is a shining example of this...
