It's not a "gross idea" at all. The Mexican Day of the Dead has as an integral part of its celebration calaveras, or painted/decorated skulls. We do them every year in October, and about 20 of our creations decorate our home year-round. Beautiful! As a lover of "El Dia de los Muertos" I think this is absolutely fantastic and a great reminder that not everyone on this planet has the same morbid concept of death that prevails in the United States and some European countries. Death is an eventuality that no one can avoid forever; let's celebrate it as a finale to a wonderful life and celebrate rather than be sad. Beautiful! When I saw this on the news I was struck by what a brilliant piece of worship this is. I said to my husband "God would be thrilled". Then the report gave the name of the piece, 'For the Love of God' and I thought, 'exactly!' To me this is a peice that expresses the great love God has for his ultimate creation. Thrilling! |
