Do you think the champions of Capitalism will ever realize that in order for the system to work and survive, it needs some oversight? It cannot be allowed to "police" itself. Capitalism needs to work for all the people, not just those that will benifit at the expense of those that will be buried under their relentless and ruthless competition. It is not a good idea to allow the fox to guard the henhouse. The only think that people with the power and the money have in mind is the bottom line!

I just clipmarked something along the same lines... Talk about Socialism - A Case For Obama

John McCain BETTER NOT become the next president. If he does, our nation most likely, will not survive the slide the Republicans have brought about with their small government mantra, unregulated market creed and trickle-down, fairytale economics which means... huge welfare checks given to the rich, who are suppose to, in return, share with us at the bottom. Talk about socialism.

FDR was horrible for the economy...the New Deal plunged the nation into a 10 year recession. Check your facts. Also, the gall of Democrats to blame the current financial crisis on Republicans is laughable. Your's is the party of Fannie and Freddie. Then you were warned about the impending crisis and the regulator was chastised for doing his job. I'll be happy to provide you more information. The problem is not deregulation...it's deregulation! Misinformation pop!

Will you ever realize that it's what you're advocating more of that paved this road?
The government has proven it can't "police" the monstrosity you want to call a free market...

A clip from Jonathan Alter:
"most voters this year aren't much interested in William Ayers or other distractions. Times are bad and the greedheads are to blame. "They know only the rules of a generation of self seekers," Franklin D. Roosevelt said in his 1933 Inaugural Address, referring to the GOP thinking of the 1920s. "They have no vision, and when there is no vision the people perish."

Some more from Alter"

Roosevelt's biblical references, as he rallied the country against "fear itself" during the last banking crisis, underscored the break he was making from the Grand Old Party of Coolidge and Hoover. Obama would likely do the same. "The money changers have fled from their high seats in the temple of our civilization," FDR said. "We may now restore that temple to the ancient truths. The measure of the restoration lies in the extent to which we apply social values more noble than mere monetary profit."

No the GOP has proven it can't police anything, since they hate goverment so much. How can you expect someone who campaigns on the fact that he doesn't like the job he is asking you to give him to actually do it well?

I am so tired of hearing the same old rhetoric from the Republican Reaganites. They live in La La Land and refuse to leave it, even though it is now in foreclosure. Take your damn rose colored glasses off and see the ruins your way of "thinking" or a better word "mimicking" has done to OUR nation. There's got to be some changes made, if we are to survive, But it won't be under the nice fluffy blanket you guys have pulled over your eyes for 30 years and have tried so hard to pull over the eyes of the rest of us. We, left of center, refuse to parrot the Big Daddy's you vote into office. We want responsible leadership from those who believe we all have a stake in what happens to us. We refuse t...
