Perhaps it is a response to the general and dismal rate of violence against women which denies women equal rights all over the world. Parental figures tell girls from a very young age to ‘behave’ and to not ‘step out of line’ as a means of cultivating obedience. Some of this is done out of a desire to protect the female from the over-bearing dominant nature of man. Of course, there is a school of thought that placing the woman beneath the male is a natural biological order necessary for the purpose of continuing the species. Perhaps it is a response to the general and dismal rate of violence against women which denies women equal rights all over the world. Parental figures tell girls from a very young age to ‘behave’ and to not ‘step out of line’ as a means of cultivating obedience. Some of this is done out of a desire to protect the female from the over-bearing dominant nature of man. Of course, there is a school of thought that placing the woman beneath the male is a natural biological order necessary for the purpose of continuing the species. I don’t know how accurate that thinking is but humans, being at the high end of the evolutionary ladder, are supposed to be able to suppress this biological trait with our superior brain and treat each other as equal in every way. Or so the theory goes.

We hear of, and some may personally know of, women who have overcome the ‘rule’ of male domination to become leaders in previously male dominated fields. To them I say ‘you truly have come a long way’ but how far has society come when, in the U.S. alone, a woman is raped every six minutes and is battered every 15 seconds? Truly abhorrent to say the least.

Perhaps we should try telling little boys to ‘behave’ and ‘stay in line’.
