j.murphy says: really cool search engine great search engine...terrible name! why you always say that, eric? My favorite thing about Clusty ( what a cool name!) is the context menu features. Very cool little popup responses to highlighted text queries for definitions or encylopedia (wikipedia) info. no particular reason other than i hate the name Clusty. Sounds like something i wouldn't want to have or be. More importantly though, i do think they offer a great service...and i'm surprised they haven't grown bigger faster...could be the name? Eric, you're crackin' me up here. I don't get it. Clusty is short for cluster. Clusty clusters search results in a unique way. It's descriptive. -You wouldn't want to have a clusty? Isn't there a candy called clusty? Did you get violently ill after eating one as a child or something? -You wouldn't want to be a clusty? Man, I don't even know where to go with that one. So, come one, dude, spill it. Godfrey, i know Clusty is short for cluster so i totally respect it from a literal perspective. But i have to say that the first thing that comes to mind when i hear "clusty" is some kind of sexually transmitted disease or something that would happen if i ate bad fish. That's hilarious! I wonder if anyone else makes similar associations. i hope so for my sake you're definitely out on the limb of a quirk tree To me "clusty" sounds more like a kids cartoon character... suddenly you seem so normal, G. Ahh. clusty the crown I like the wikipedia search. the have the Simpsons in Japan? Ah being dubbed normal by Godfrey, I'm no sure it's a sign of normality After I made that comment, I felt kind of bad about the harshness of it. As a former lefty, I forgot how insulting it is to be thought "normal". Like a major curse word. Accept my humble apologies, freak. somebody rescue me...please!! Not lookin' good at this point, Goldstein If Guillaume, who has a pretty consistent "bad fish" take on just about everything, ain't witcha. Not everything, Godfrey, not everything... Wow, GD. "Former lefty" Explain the transition. ttrue that, you exempt actual bad fish Maybe he wanted to be "normal" ? Oh, and I like the name clusty. It does contain the word "lusty" though. a simple rearrangement of internal order. emotion used to rule, now reason does. Funny. I feel the same way about my transition from being a "righty". Also, Clusty spelled backwards is the name of my favorite Tibetan poet, Y T Sulc. this clipmark is a good example of "the clipmark effect" yaknowwhutimsayin? definitely the path less travelled, that, KMC I'm always ahead of the curve. Boy did that come off arrogantly or what. It is an example of how multiple responses to clips by j. murphy, can give clipmarks a happy-girly feel Have we reached a tipping point yet? ok, i was just kidding about not liking the name. what i meant to say is that Clusty is a very cute, adorable name that i would never change. In fact, i would have named this Clusty instead of Clipmarks if Clusty wasn't already taken. I'm just jealous! Yikes. Did you come down with a bad case of clusty there egoldstien? I'm with Eric (or rather I was with Eric until he caved), to me Clusty sounds too much like rusty or clutter. It's something I'd associated with being old, out-of-date. cool, now that i have some backing, here's what i'd really say... i once dated this girl in college but i broke up with her when she told me she had Clusty...there, i said it!!! Thanks, Eric...now Clusty's burning hot thanks to you. If it weren't for skwirlinator, happy flowers would rule right now You're all quite insane. j.murphy, i'm sure this is the exact conversation you expected when you posted this clipmark And stop pickin' on my flowers! I wouldn't use clipmarks if it was called Clusty, that's for sure. But Eric, I think we dated the same girl. I gave her Clusty, sorry. Somehow I had a feeling..... LOL Guillaume...too funny! i gotta go...time to take a shower to make sure i got the Clusty off me. back soon. Bye, don't forget to clust. Lusty Clusty and clutter. Lions and tigers and bears oh my. I happened to browse over to the Clusty today from a link at Diggs. And funny that the name should be an issue as it reminded me of clustrophobic after reading the details of the service. lol what a fluster cluck. ;o) But in all honesty, it's probably a great service for those who need / desire it. I shied away for now but not without bookmarking it in my browser favs for future possibility. Don't be put off by our goofin' on the name. It's well worth using, especially if you use The Fox Yes Godfrey, I use the Fox. And so tell me how it works. maybe I'll give a second look. PS - wasn't put off at all by the goofin' Had made my decision prior to reading this thread. Would still like to know more about it however and how it works with Fox. Thanks Well, using it online is just like using any search engine in that you put in your search terms and hit search. It just has a very cool way of organizing the results. With the FF extension you get a toolbar which has a nice toggle feature so that it's not taking up space when not in use. But my favorite feature is the dictionary, web, and encyclopedia lookup function in the context menu. Highlight a word, select your search, and very quickly a small non-browser window popup appears right there next to your highlighted word. and the wordsmith strikes again... i toggle multiple modes here at the clip fun really, getting differents facets activated Some facets are more interesting than other, actually. I leave to you which ones I'm speaking of. |
