I've learned from the article comments that some people have known for a long time that John Mackey is anti-union. This comment is about those informed liberals.

These informed, educated and/or moneyed liberals were content to purchase Chevre and Vouvray stocked by non-union labor. No righteous indignation stirred as their purchases were tallied by a non-union cashier. They glowed with self-satisfaction as they handed their designer grocery bag to a part-time-no-benefits grocery bagger. Halo firmly in place, they floated to the automatic doors assured of their superior position over Safeway shoppers who use plastic bags and eat processed foods.

But now comes John Mackey's opinion which shattered their gourmet utopia and laid open their hypocrisy. Oh, they're furious now.

Comment from a self-described Whole Foods employee (see clips source)
August 17, 2009 5:42 pm Link

I live in the S.F. Bay Area and work at Whole Foods. I was hired in a wave of people who are all part-time and not covered by the potential health insurance Whole Foods offers. I am not paid $13/hr. I am just trying to make ends meet and without health care reform I still wouldn’t be covered. I was hoping after 10 years of not being able to see a doctor that after a few months I’d be able to, this will not be the case and I again must resign myself to the social position that has been cast for me. I will keep on working, but I will not give my consent to the statements of someone who is so apt...

Y'know, some of us "informed liberals" who've known for a while that Whole Foods and Mackey are anti-labor responded by NOT SHOPPING AT WHOLE FOODS. Careful who you're tarring with that broad brush.

As far as clip-on-tie goes, it's been my experience that he responds like many bullies do: if you stand up to them and tell them to knock if off, they will; if you don't tell them to behave like an adults, they'll continue with the personal insults and immature mockery.

Which is, at least, better than the ones who continue with the personal insults and mockery after being told to stop... I guess.

Lexica, the comment is about those who knew and still shopped. I don't understand your concern since what I wrote does not describe you. I clip and comment on important issues, most notably race, racism and discrimination and I can't remember the last time you posted an opinion on one of those of clips (if ever). And yet, you chose this clip to leave a comment, no, a reprimand. I guess we all have our priorities.

clip-on-tie is welcome to comment on my clips, just like antara, coloradoright and anyone else who agrees or disagrees with the clip content or my views. It is easy enough to engage, or ignore - sticks and stones.
