We meet our parents, and we get to know them in ways we don't get to know other people, so we can identify reasons why we love them. For example, one of the many reasons I love my father so much is because he's the most honest person I've ever met. That is something tangible... I wonder if just knowing that a god loves one unconditionally is enough? I think that truly loving Him has to do with coming face to face with what He did for you - the death on the cross. When I think of Him on that cross, being ridiculed and hurt, bearing the brunt of crude humanity, my heart screams out that we are not worth it. Certainly *I* am not worth it. I love Him mostly because of that picture in my heart. I don't understand Him too well. I don't represent Him very well. I don't like a lot of what I think is His plan or His ways too much. Mostly because He has not yet seen fit to heal my back pain  But I love Him. Travis, that's really lovely. The whole thing isn't for me, but it's sometimes nice to see the happiness it brings to others. Although I believe I get your point, "Little House" still has reruns ALL over cable...and I dispise my 'genetic sperm donor'...hmmm... It's not just knowing that God loves us, it's the things He does to show His love for us. For example, I was studying for my driving licence and (cut a long story short) I had to do the Hazard Perception part (UK). The day before the test, I did a mock test and scored 45 out of 90 (I think it was 90). The pass mark was 44. I had studied loads before hand so that was not the reason why the score was so low. I was really worried going into the exam and prayed to God that he would help me to pass if it was His will. And I promised that if I passed I would use my licence to do His work in whatever way He wished. I did the test and I get 71 out of 90. And that was a miracle because I had not g... |
