It's amazing (and quite frightening) that the cold was able to conquer such powerful masses of water. I first heard of this a few years ago, while travelling in Canada. Having just been to the falls the previous day i actually refused to believe they could freeze over. I believe it now, but it still amazes (and scares) me. Much as it would have been a once in a lifetime experience, i'm quite thankful i wasn't there that year.

All the people in the photos probably aren't among us anymore. No first-hand witnesses left, just photos. Odd to think about.

Seeing the Falls during the summer is nice, but you have to see them during the winter to get a different perspective. Either season, they are awesome.
