This makes sense to me. i love to see people starting to make common sense decisions that show that our priorities are beginning to change for the better.

Ok, never let it be said I don't speak my mind.
Of all the brilliant stuff you have posted in the past, this is a 360.One in 4 people in my town is out of work and this is priority? This is rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. With the homeless rising like crazy in California and elsewhere, this is the best they got?
Let's see, should my Lexis be dark blue or silver?

Common sense isn't.

That adage is very true. Far too often, people overlook the most obvious of solutions. People need to start paying attention to things like this; simple, inexpensive ways to save money or reduce polition.

Kudos on pointing this out. Excellent clip.

swampfoxz, not saying it's going to solve the world's problems. just saying that it seems like a low/no cost way to reduce energy consumption. i'm also saying that it shows that people are rearranging their priorities - in this case, putting energy consumption over aesthetics.

Similarly, dark roofs on buildings have been found to raise the temperature of cities by several degrees, not to mention raise the fuel consumption for air conditioning of each of the buildings themselves. I recently read of a city that is encouraging white roofs.
No doubt dark autos have some of the same effect. And the air conditioning inside them isn't free - it uses more fuel than the same car in a light color.

Rather than ban dark colors I rather see a fee to recoup the negative externalities that are associated with the excessive need for cooling.

Didn't people at one time make their roofs dark to absorb heat to keep the buildings warm?

The same goes for white autos in winter time. They use more fuel for heating.

What percentage of cars are black? As usual this is just a symptom of the left's need to control people. As if the concept of anthropogenic global warming is not now obvious to most. You might as well outlaw black clothes too, because I will burn more energy and have to eat more when I wear black. And where does this leave black people? Could this be disguised racism - lol? The UN says meat production is worse for atmospheric CO2, than driving autos. It would seem only logical to outlaw black clothing.

I had to register for this, just because I think it's the dumbest thing I have every heard. Why don't they remove Hummers and SUV's...find something else to pick at

Al Gore uses mostly black cars. He will be very upset. On the other hand, to save some energy, one can install a windmill on black cars.
