willhelm says: Christianity was used by the Nazis as propoganda in a similar way that it is used by Marxists in Black Lib Theology and the same way Militant Islamists take liberties with Islam. From article: "The German Protestants, in doing this, have been the first body in Germany to stand up against the dictates of Hitler, and have shown courage and determination. They have also shown that the Nazi interpretation of religion is not accepted by the mass of pious people in Germany, and that the idea of a military, patriotic Christ has not yet conquered over the gentler, nobler idea which inspires better Christians than the Nazis, and which is summed up in the teaching, “Love thy neighbour as thyself.” There was a similar relationship between the Chruch and Mussolini, who despised Theists and the organized Church. Fascism was characteristically anti-Christian in practice - public and personal. " The obscurantism always and everywhere had the same ugly outlook and get its most common appearance (as well as modern name) in fascism. Another interpretation of the bible. Guess the Nazis also had the faith to ignore it's flaws. Besides that, the Nazi's collected (looted) a lot of artworks wich had a religious depiction or meaning. See "Operation Dora". They, but also the Vatican, CIA and other agencies that were somehow connected to the 'stay behind' network, were secretly searching for holy artefacts - especially the 'Arma Christy' wich they believed to have the power to rule the world. Although they all their own motivations, they all shared two: greed and holding back the communists. So, I think the Nazi not only used christianity as propaganda, many of the leaders actually believed in the Nazi intepretation. Sadly enough, they weren't the only ones who did so. |
