Great clip. I find black and white photography very compelling viewing. Looking at the pictures suggests he may be a Parisian. I’ll have to look up M Doisneau. Unknowingly, at one time I made a similar image to the one of the couple looking into the shop window where the nude is shown. In the '70s worked in a camera store in a mall. We had a large showcase viewable to the mall on the mall at the store's front which had a glass top angling up to about shoulder height from waist height.. I set up a display with a very beautiful topless photo among the items, and a remotely released camera atop a table-top tripod with a fish-eye lens in the corner of the case. I captured some very funny expressions as people noticed the picture. Sad thing is, it was most likely illegal and against the mall rules to have done so, so I can't show the pictures. It is a confusing area, the legality. The Kiss, above top, came under legal process many years after it was taken. Some of my favourite pictures are of 'real moments' in everyday settings, but it is unclear to me with my own photography how legal it is to capture a person's image without their consent and then circulate it. I suppose there is an ethical question too. Will be clipping soon some images by Martin Parr (without his consent!) who seems to have overcome this difficulty. |
