dfiskey says: i clipped this just because i thought it was amazing that it was on for 72 years. i have never seen the show- but when i read this, i thought it was remarkable. Must be heavy for loyal fans..wow...72 years! I think that is amazing too, dfiskey. Learn why they are called soap operas. Oh, is this the beginning of the end for these? It is like a dying tradition. i sorta hope not- General Hospital (and i'm not ultra proud to be reporting this) is sorta like a 3rd child to me... it's part of my routine (on DVR of course)....but still- been watching that show since i was about 10.... The only soap I ever watched was Santa Barbara. That show was crazy. (almost Passions crazy). I watched the whole run, 9 years. Robin Wright Penn was on that show, hahaha. I watched the Daytime Emmy Awards. I have watched All My Children (from the very first episode), I watched Port Charles(first to final episodes), Ryan's Hope (first episode until I got a day job), One Life to Live and General Hospital. And I am proud to be a coming-out-of-the-closet Soapie. PS -- they call them soaps because way, way back when the sponsors were manufacturers of soap products, especially detergents. Shame on me --- forgot to mention Dark Shadows, The Edge of Night and Soap. mea culpa |
