There is also the fact that so many people seem to be dying of cancer, because progress in other fields of medicine has reduced other causes. I have suffered the side effects of many types of medication. I'm not prepared to take them without a proven benefit. Chemotherapy may be the answer in some cases but at least with the knowledge of cancer we get the chance to face death on our own terms. There is no good way to die, but we will all have to face it.
