I, for one, am outraged by the president’s support for a power-hungry tyrant over the will of the people and his laissez-faire attitude toward the fascist take-over of the so-called republic of Iran. And exactly where does it state that President Obama supports this idiot? http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/termlimits.asp Serrano has done this 7 times, twice with a Democratic President, four times with a Republican one. Your point? Your point? Why are you having difficulty with the point? Isn't it clear. Read the clip title again. Serrano has done this 7 times, twice with a Democratic President, four times with a Republican one.Your point? It doesn't make any difference. Even if the repeal were to be passed and ratified while Obama is still in office, the repeal would not apply to him. Constitutional changes that affect the eligibility of federal elected officials to serve do not apply to incubents. The body of the 22nd spells this out explicitly: But this article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of suc... What about the 2003 Hatch Amendment: Section 1. A person who is a citizen of the United States, who hasThis has been called the "Arnold Amendment" since its introduction has been tied to the notion of running Arnold Schwarzenegger for the White House. Of course the birthers would have had a field day with this one if it had ever gotten out of committee and was currently maki... My point, willhelm, is that this person has attempted this 7 times, under both parties, but this Clip implies that Obama is somehow trying to set things up to stay in office and this is something all brand-new. Why are you having difficulty with the point? Isn't it clear? Read the clip title again. I understood the clip title the first time I read it. It ends with a question mark. Neither the clip nor the title suggest anything about Obama trying to set things up for himself. So, I think the reason you are having difficulty with the point is because, once again, you are letting your sensitivities get in the way of your perceptions. I guess it happens to the best of us. I will not speak for Efrain, perhaps he is implying such as you describe. But, it doesn't initially strike me that he was. Right. The implications of H.J. Res. 5 passing would obviously result in what the title says and not necessarily that Obama is seeking unlimited terms. E.A.: Did you read my first comment? Obama would be grandfathered into term limits even if the repeal passed during his current term. Repeal would not affect his inability to serve more than two terms under the conditions of the existing law. It would not be obvious to you if you had any idea of how constitutional law works. OK, then, I will take your word for it in this case. But it just came across that way. It has nothing to do with my "sensitivities," however, as I'm keeping a very close eye on Obama's actions as I do every other President. Not being a Democrat or Republican, I don't have any particular loyalty to any party. @ Jorjor E.A.: Did you read my first comment? No. Actually I just tend to ignore your comments all together. No. Actually I just tend to ignore your comments all together. So how can you make an informed response to him? |
