What a complicated issue.... I can see the military wanting to preserve security and honor the memory of their dead; I can see families not wanting to be traumatized by photos of their loved ones; but I think about all we are still learning from photographs of WWI and WWII... and if there are no photos of the Iraq war, where will that leave historians of the future? Most of the WWI and WWII photographs were taken by military photographers assigned to document the actions. I wonder if there are still military photographers documenting todays "wars"?

Yes, there are several, as well as videos, live combat videos, and more, which has not been done in any other war like it is in this one. From these: http://www.fotos.geschichtsthemen.de/iraq-war/iraq.htm to these really, really, horrible ones that I wish I had never seen here: http://mindprod.com/politics/iraqwarpix.html
Live feed has numerous videos, many with combat action, and youtube does as well, most I just do not even want to watch as it is not my idea of entertainment, far from it, but then I also do not want to remain oblivious to what's really going on. It is hard, war is hell even when viewed from afar, I wish people would learn to share the planet peacefully!

There is a double standard when it comes to coverage of the dead. Dead Iraqi civilians, insurgents and others no problem. U.S. troops a problem.

Why?
