It must be about philosophy, because it surely isn't about cost. One of the plans Mr. Bush opposes, the one approved by an overwhelming bipartisan majority in the Senate Finance Committee, would cost less over the next five years than we'll spend in Iraq in the next four months. And it would be fully paid for by an increase in tobacco taxes.

So what kind of philosophy says that it's O.K. to subsidize insurance companies, but not to provide health care to children?

So his philosophy says that the government must be prevented from solving problems, even if it can. In fact, the more good a proposed government program would do, the more fiercely it must be opposed.

denying basic health care to children whose parents lack the means to pay for it, simply because you're afraid that success in insuring children might put big government in a good light, is just morally wrong.

it seems, more basic decency in the hearts of Americans than is dreamt of in Mr. Bush's philosophy.

Funny ... A Materialist accusing another of having an immoral philosophy. Krugman is the most ignorant man in print media.

Yes, willie. We know. Anyone who doesn't agree with you is ignorant. You are the arbiter of all that is right.

Ignorance has NOTHING to do with agreement. IGNORANCE has to do with awareness of facts and information. Krugman is either stupid or ignorant. I think he is ignorant.
Your comments lead me to believe you are NOT ignorant.

Then, please willie, share you knowledge with us all in some manner other than dim-witted pokes. What makes your perspective factually correct versus his?

dim-witted pokes? It is funny also how you call a comment you do not even understand dim-witted.

My comment was just an editorial perspective of the lunacy of a Materialist criticizing another's philosophy. Besides that, Krugman's idiocy stands on it's own self-evident Marxist failings to anyone with the perception and intellect to understand.

Don't bother BB, willies answer to all evil in the world (or things that he perceives as evil) is materialism:

Terrorism? Materialism...

Unjust laws? Materialism...

Racial, sexual or ethnic discrimination? Materialism...

Abuse of minors? Materialism...

Failing schools? Materialism...

Why 2+2=4? Materialism....

So on and so forth....

Wow...you guys are brutal today.

I am not the sharpest tool in the shed, however, I AM a Mother...and for over a decade I WAS a nurse ( ICU & Cardiac).
Have you ever had a child that can't breathe...with their O2 sats plummetting and lips turning blue?

As a parent, I too, want to know:

...what kind of philosophy says that it's O.K. to subsidize insurance companies, but not to provide health care to children?

Your right, nobody wants to see that, which is why the question you allude to is so very important and requires an earnest and honest answer. But you won't be getting that from this White House.

Appeals to ignorance and emotion are the tactics of idiots. Especially when it contends that children do not get needed healthcare whether provided by responsible parents, pushed off onto the taxpayers, or given free by hospitals on the grounds it is illegal to turn away a patient.

The philosophy suggested does not exist. What does exist is the philosophy that murders children in the womb, supports assisted suicide, puts elderly patients at the end of the list as is done in the socialized medicine schemes of Europe and Canada, the philosophy that government can make better medical decisions than doctors and patients, the philosophy the errs on the side of death as in the Schiavo case, the p...

A lot of fury...signifying nothing...

It seems your philosophy is all about been born after your born your on your own. Quality of life is important, what you are suggesting is life at all cost, even if it means that your in a vegetative state because or in horrible pain because your family simply will not let go. Talk about a living hell.

As for Big Pharma, I really don't think we should cry over them, in fact they should not exploit people's need for health and life to make big bucks. Why not have the same benefits at home as abroad? And why does big Pharma spend so much money pushing prescription drugs on people who are not doctors and would still need to see a physician just to get th...

I think it merely a lack of understanding on our part, maybe if I put it in the form of a Hollywood script we may understand.

Scene, a empty shopping mall parking lot late at night. Only two vehicles can be seen, a white van and a Delorean.

Characters: Doc, played by Wilhem, Marty, played by 80% of the Clipmarks users.

Marty: "Hey Doc I came as fast I could, what's up!"

Doc: "Marty, did you bring the camera?"

Marty:"Yeah, so what's this all about?"

Doc:"I made the most important discovery in human history! I was taking a poop when..."

Marty:"Whoah Doc, this is a movie, we don't go to the bathroom in movies."

Doc:"Ah yes, of course. Well I was fixing the clock above my toilet when I ...

Continued....its a looong explanation!

Doc:"Yeah, take this gun, it has three silver bullets, go back in time and kill Galileo, Voltaire and Darwin and maybe Materialism can be defeated once and for! Hurry Marty!"

Marty jumps into the Delorean and after reaching a certain speed disappears in a flash of light.
