Hopefully an eventual outcome of Annapolis, even if little is achieved, will be more on the move to removes the lingering denial of Israel's legitimate existence.

Count me out as being a leftist who is able to live the fact of Muslim nations. I don't hear many left-wing people talking about the tolerability of Islamic run countries. That sounds far-fetched. No matter what, a state based on religion is a bad idea. It means that some percentage of the people will be forced to live under an alien belief system. Secular government protects everyone.

I think we should bear in mind that of virtually all the countries in the Middle East, Israel is a functioning, people-led democracy with free and fair elections etc.
Why can't left wing intellectuals ever acknowledge that fact. Their not usually the first to volunteer to help the 'oppressed' either. They just sit around their dining tables and criticise...In their expensive houses in the best areas of AnyTown.
I truly wish for peaceful coexistence between the Palestinians and Israelis. Combined they could be a major force for reform and enlightenment in the whole region. (Sorry, got carried away.)

mickfinn, please don't every express sorrow for wishing peace. The clip represents one of the viewpoints of those who don't, for whom it is all a sort of game rather than a tragedy.

Well said. And I'm a lefty too.
