deadcowkid says: On Saturday, Dec. 6, HUFF and supporters will host a “sleep-out” in symbolic protest of the ordinances and unfair treatment of homeless residents at the Human Rights Fair at the Louden Nelson Community Center. “The problem is you have a bunch of people who are a part of the Democratic Party who persuade themselves they are very liberal,” Norse said. “They vote for Obama, they are in favor of getting out of Iraq, they are members of the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union), but when it comes to the local issue of poverty and poor people, they are as bad as the Republicans.” It's easier to do anything when someone is encouraging you and patting you on the back. Real kindness is selfless and needs no encouragement. Both Republicans and Democrats could do so much more and be so much more. Your right about real kindness but our politicians are not even near that level of thinking. This protest was due to laws in our city that are unconstitutional, unethical , immoral and selectivity enforced against the poor, ranking one of the most liberal cities in the nation as one of the top ten worst cities in its treatment of it's homeless. Ranked by Bush's own bullshit Homeless task force. Some of our laws - A Nighttime Sleeping Ban that makes it illegal to sit, lie or SLEEP anywhere, on public or even private property -- at night. Additionally we have a nighttime Blanket Ban, making it illegal for the simple act of a woman or man covering up in the cold at night on a park bench, awak... I think the time is coming. Perhaps sooner than later. You must mean Obama. I support the man but he is not Jesus Christ. I hope he gets 2 terms. He has a large mess on his hands. No, actually I was thinking more along the lines of the people taking matters into their own hands and letting the Government know in no uncertain terms that they either do what the people want or they're out of there. |
