People with diabetes may avoid or delay heart and blood vessel disease by controlling the other risk factors. Medicine may be required to diminish high cholesterol and triglycerides, but a good nutritional diet may reduce the need for medication. Meds DO NOT prolong life in diabetics (look it up or ask your doctor to confirm this), they only prevent complications of the disease. Each day you take your meds you help control your risk of experiencing the complications of diabetes. Remember that diabetes is a serious disease, which, if not controlled, can be life threatening. |
