Why not, some of the best wings and props for fighter planes was made out of wood. Laminated wood beams will support more weight than some steel beams, will not warp or expand and contract during temp changes. A renewable resource. What about "Blue Jean insulation", an insulation made from cotton, non sticky, treated with boric acid, the same stuff we mixed with sterile water to wash infants eyes, wards off termites, bees, lady bugs, and flies. Used in California quite often, very little cost difference.
