El porcentaje de hijos ilegítimos entre la población negra ronda el 70%; casi la mitad de los estudiantes negros abandona los estudios en Secundaria; sólo el 30% de los jóvenes negros vive con sus dos padres. En 2005 los negros –que, repito, son sólo el 13% de la población– cometieron el 52% de los homicidios y aportaron el 46% a la lista de víctimas de homicidio. El 94% de las víctimas negras de homicidio murió a manos de un homicida negro. Semejante patología, producto, pienso yo, de la desintegración de la familia, es totalmente nueva entre los negros. En 1940 el porcentaje de hijos ilegítimos en la comunidad era del 19; en 1950, el porcentaje de hogares negros encabezados por una madre soltera era del 18, mientras que hoy es del 70.
