Dead Dogs and Cats as a Protein Source
The most objectionable source of protein for pet food is euthanized cats and dogs. (See Chapter Four.) It is a common practice for thousands of euthanized dogs and cats to be delivered to rendering plants, daily, and thrown into rendering vats--along with pet collars, I.D. tags, and plastic bags--to become part of an ingredient called "meat meal." If you see the term "meat meal" listed as an ingredient, there is no guarantee that the pet food does not contain euthanized cats and dogs.

OMG! That is so sick. I know my son and I always read the label when we buy pet food but I know that from now on we"ll read them even more carefully. My son has to extra careful because his poor Weimeraner has severe allergies to certain ingredients. Thanks for an excellent an informative clip. Really appreciate it.

Lexica, I am sorry to hear about your cat. It is hard to lose a companion, but I'm sure you have many happy memories.

I get my cat food from a reputable supplier and it meets with my vet's approval. I know, lexica, that you aren't a fan of dry cat foods, but my boy actually prefers it to canned or pouch. He's been eating it for over ten years and is in good health.

The manufacturer is in Indiana, and all of their ingredients are supplied locally with no imports. They were not part of the chinese poison pet food affair.
