FincaFantastica says: Tunis is a major Mediterranean city and has lovely laid back feel compared to the more frenetic Arab capitals in the region. There are handsome tree-lined streets with lovely old buildings and an atmospheric medina in the centre of the Old Town. The streets are dotted with mosques many of which are worth visiting as well as old madrasas (religious schools) and French colonial buildings. But for many travellers the highlight of Tunis are the bazaars where you can wander for hours, soaking up the atmosphere and picking your way through narrow alleyways selling wedding dresses, gold, bronze, spices and just about anything else you can think of. |
