Follow up to wiccantexan, two much better recognized sources in Oklahoma than the Tulsa Parks Department say that the spider probably was mis-identified: one is the OSU School of Vet Medicine, one of the top 2 in the country, the other is the Tulsa Zoo. Both of those places are also questioning: 1. Why the spider was not only killed, but is not actually being made available for further study; 2. Childs is apparently way over-stating the dangerousness of the spider he IDed to humans. I can't afford to shop at whole foods anyway. |
