McDonald's is to close its business in Iceland because the financial crisis has made it too expensive to operate its franchise.

Whiskey is very expensive in Iceland. I have thirty-year-old price list from an Icelandic store, and a fifth of whiskey back then cost USD 27.00. I hate to think what the prices are like now.

Mmmmm - a nice sippin' Irish whiskey on a cold night surrounded by friends. Who needs burgers? But I might miss those fries....
