That's good to know .. Then, I think Sodium Valproate (Depakin) will be of contraindicaton since it will increase GABA synthesis levels actively ..

However, I would like to note that Schizophrenia per se is caused by multi-factors including genetic "as u kindly mentioned" and multiple neuro-transmitters including Dopamine, Serotonin, Norepinephrine & Gultamate, Hence, the efficacy of known typical & atypical antipsychotics in treatment of Schizophrenia.

Moreover, it was uncovered that schizophrenic patients also have gross structural abnormalities in the CT , MRI , MRS, PET & SPECT scans such as Asymmetery for instance.
