I heard a recent interview with a biologist on this subject, and her opinion was that white-nose could be the problem, but because fungus is rarely fatal on its own, it was quite likely that the bats had a compromised immune system already, and white-nose was just the final blow. Considering how vital bats are to controlling insects, this is one mystery that needs to be solved quickly.
