Because our tax money is going to fund things in the city from which we draw a communal benefit, like socialized parks and socialized libraries and socialized fire protection and socialized police protection. We're real lefty that way. Plus, we feel it's a good faith effort to show that no, we're not outlaws, we're willing to obey the law and pay our taxes. Oh, in addition, the vote to raise our own taxes passed by something like 82%. Very popular move. Also, we voted in Measure Z which makes simple pot possession offenses the cops lowest priority. We've got an out of control murder rate, and it's not the pot smokers who are behind it. Measure Z needs to go nation wide. Way too many people in the prison system for something so harmless in the big scheme of things. |
