					</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>2007年通年の世界のコンテナ取扱港ランキングは、シンガポールが1位を死守し、上海が香港を抜いて初めて2位に躍進した。各港湾局などの発表を基に算出した。世界のコンテナ取扱量上位は1990年以降、入れ替わりはあったもののシンガポールと香港の2港がその地位を独占し、3位以下の港を圧倒的な物量で引き離してきた。その2社の壁を、03年に初めて上位3港に浮上した上海港が、わずか4年で突き崩した形になった。08年に入っても上海港は2けた増の成長を維持しており、このままのペースでいけば世界1位も遠くなさそうだ。
07年のコンテナ取扱量世界上位3港は、1位がシンガポール港の2710万TEU(前年比13%増)、2位は上海港の2615万TEU(同20%増)、3位が香港の2398万9000TEU(同2%増)。
上海港が初めて世界コンテナ取扱上位20港に顔を出したのは95年で、取扱量は152万7000TEU、順位は19位だった。それが98年にトップ10入り(10位、306万6000TEU)となり、03年には1000万TEUを突破して3位に。同時点では当時1位の香港の半分ほどの取扱量だったが、徐々に差を縮め07年2位となった。
上海港は中国経済の順調な成長もさることながら、90年代末から外高橋、洋山などコンスタントにコンテナターミナルを建設し、旺盛な貨物需要を賄ってきた。上海港は今年に入っても2けた増と勢いは続いており、10年までには世界1位になる可能性もある。
