just amazing! I just had someone e-mail me this. How often do you say the pledge? Is there a point to repeating it? You have a need to keep repeating your loyalty to a .... I'm missing something obviously. Why this need? How do you dispose of an old flag? Don't get me wrong. He has no chance. The blacks are no supporting him enough. The whites that are, are doing so to prove how liberal they are as he is a cute black. Reverse racists. You should vote for his policies and character not his looks or colour. OMG! Or much to do about nothing. Take your pic, I go for the second and not the first. He stood, this is not grade school you know. An obligatory pledge is a meaningless pledge. Were I an American, I would not pledge allegiance to the current American system either. Rather I would try to change it to something all could be proud of. He shows true character, also I agree with the previous two comments. Good questions righthand! You say the Pledge of Allegiance because you should express your loyalty to your country. You say the pledge to the American flag because the flag is the symbol of the United States of America. You can't say a pledge to the whole country so you say it to the country's symbol. So when you say the pledge to the flag remember that you're saying it to your country. But as it stands right now, my flag is flying but upside down because we are a nation in distress. The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning. And good answers in return. I'll confess to knowing the answer already as to the disposal of your flags. I'm as proud a Irishman as any one is of their country. That I believe that I've genuine reasons for being as proud as I fell, I'll leave aside, but ask you this. As neither I or any other Irishman has every sworn allegiance to our flag or any other symbol, goes that make us any less loyal Irish? I other words "what's it all about?" Is it your diversity of origin that requires some different type of evidence loyalty that I find odd? If you were some small state next to a giant bully, then I'd understand this need. Seeing grown men cry while a flag is raised, well "it don't impress me m... In earlier times, a ruler would lead his soldiers into battle personally, he could ask his troops to die for him because he was willing to die with them. Can you imagine a modern day politician saying fight and die for me? So they say fight and die for your country and its flag. Flags and banners were once used to rally soldiers on the battlefield, usually around a leader. So you must instill allegiance to that flag so the people will identify it with their ruler's right to ask them to lay down their lives. If the flag is sacred, so to are the country's leaders. If you ask someone to shoot the person next to him, most would not. But if you say that he is a threat to your country and... This picture was taken while the National Anthem was being played (no one was saying the pledge). However, at what point during the anthem the picture is taken, I don't know (does anyone?) The US Code says: §171. Conduct during playing During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should render the military salute at the firs... Were I an American, I would not pledge allegiance to the current American system either. Rather I would try to change it to something all could be proud of.kudos to you for expressing your (*my*) thoughts quite so succinctly! I haven't said "The Pledge" in literally 20+ years. What's the point? Nationalism is a pretense to greater evil. At least he has the courage to express the truth & not follow blindly. This picture was taken while the National Anthem was being played (no one was saying the pledge). However, at what point during the anthem the picture is taken, I don't know (does anyone?)This stuck me too but I could not find the words to express it. Further, was he setup, accidentally or deliberately. You know like being stuck at the front in the church and not knowing whether to strand, kneel, sit or run. 2 seconds later than the other dummy here and you look bad. Why on earth would he DELIBERATELY give the racists ammunition to fire at himself if he has real ambitions to win??? Won't happen, either way. Um...I don't think ALL AMERICANS need to see this pic although it might be good to inform them about how any excuse for fascist judgements are growing. There are no 'secret gang signs,' required for US citizens; that's sort of part of the idea of free speech. To clarify, this picture was taken during the National Anthem, not the Pledge of Allegiance. Clearly the people that created this e-mail and sent it around are not fans of Barak Obama and that’s OK. However, what is not OK are the lies and hate that they are spreading. 1) I’d like to see the article that says he will not say the pledge of allegiance or put his hand over his heart when it is being said because those who have investigated it at snopes.com (a web site that investigates chain e-mails to see if they are real) cannot find any such article. 2) Who cares if his middle name is Hussein? What kind of citizens are we that people will be judged for their NAME? That’s ridiculous. I... |
