egoldstein says: First of all, a retweet is absolutely not the same as voting something up on Digg or Reddit. Retweeting causes something to immediately jump to the top of the feed for any user following the person who does the retweet. Digg and Reddit most certainly do not work this way. Second, this is exactly what popping a clip on clipmarks.com does...but not surprisingly, this was not mentioned. I really can't help but wonder why clipmarks.com is so often overlooked by the media as they jerk off about so-called new functionality from twitter, friendfeed and facebook. There's no doubt that those three sites have far surpassed clipmarks in regards to size. But so damn many of their features are things clipmarks introduced years ago. Another example of this is the real time FriendFeed that @scobleizer is so wowed by...clipmarks has worked that way for years, yet he acts like this is revolutionary. I don't get it. The market is a fickle mistress, as I'm sure you appreciate, Eric. I still believe that Clipmarks suffers comparatively because it works on any site without notice. No little link to click to draw new users in. You have to go looking for a plug-in to find the best service on the web. If you could get a few high-profile blogs to employ some of your great technology, we might have a whole lot more active users around here. Eric, Clipmarks is still tops with me. Facebook is fun, I'm addicted to the FB farm and I need neighbours Anyone want to play? But Clipmarks is the site to hear the news and find out what's going on in the world before it hits the TV or newspaper news, and give and get opinions on what you hear and read. Clipmarks is the absolute tops with me, its educational, fun, and a great social site! I've liked and used Clipmarks for years. But, since Google Chrome was introduced, I haven't been following quite as faithfully as before. There's no plug in available for Chrome so, out of sight, out of mind. Twitter is much more in your face and accessible from any platform. |
