It comes with pre-loaded maps of the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico . It has a turn-by-turn guidance with 3.5 inch color tough display. 6 millions POI database , photo view and other useful utilites such as calculator and unit converters. It does a great job as GPS device without any unnecessary functions.  However this device does not come with a Text-to-Speach(TTS) function. You can select <A href="http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-n%C3%BCvi-3-5-Inch-Portable-Navigator/dp/B001U0O7QW?SubscriptionId=1BC4H7HSHMAN93NVMEG2%26test=ws%26linkCode=xm2%26camp=2025%26creative=165953%26creativeASIN=B001U0O7QW&tag=gps-v-20">nuvi 1200</A> which is about $170. They both have TTS function. The difference between 1250 and 1200 is that 1250 shows speed limit on the display.
