maybe he had a memory lapse about the moment when he was shot. i can't imagine a gun shot NOT waking him up.

Accidentally shot him in the head? She didn't tell him, "honey, that headache is a GSW, let's get help"? The emergency room is not where he should have learned this crucial bit of information. Maybe she thought he wouldn't notice?

Lesson learned: do not play with guns at 4 AM.
