This puts the latest version of Microsoft's mobile OS on track for a third-quarter release on new devices, as planned.<P></P><P>What takes so long? Windows Mobile 6.5 may be final, but now it has to go to manufacturers like HTC, who take a while to integrate it into their devices. From there, it heads to carriers like Verizon Wireless, who take several weeks more to integrate it into their networks.</P><P></P><DIV>Windows Mobile 6.5 is a mostly cosmetic overhaul designed to make Microsoft's aging mobile OS easier to use.
