AtlLiberal says: Once again we're witness to more outrage against Christian persecution. This time from that erudite philosopher of religion, Charlie Daniels. This'll get Joe Six Pack gnashing his teeth about those atheist Christ haters! LOL. I want to see the all mighty and omniscient FMS waving his noodly appendages from every courthouse. Does that mean Charlie Daniels won't love me anymore? Hee hee! What they are afraid is the loss of power. That is what really drives their fears. What they are afraid of is the loss of power. (And money.) Bam! While I agree basically with the idea of power being involved I think it more fitting to ascribe their fear to a loss of privilege. There are many Christian Nationalists who are on the lower economic-sociological staircase and do not have much power or any real prospects to obtain any real power (meaning, in the most sense the ability to forcefully influence others to their point of view). What they do have in common is the perception of themselves as being special and superior to other people. They believe that their place in society is enhanced by their belief in their God (morally and ethically) which makes them the rightful recipients of better treatment than others. It is a mindset that... Some christians are so emotionally fragile that a different world-view is very threatening, almost life threatening, in their eyes. So, they get quite hostile towards anyone who is not on the same wavelength. I think this is what happens when people force their minds to believe complex, paradoxical philosophies, that don't have any experiential value. I don't think an imaginary world can hold its own against reality without LOTS of energy on manipulation. It wears me out just to watch them. I find it ironic that many Christians who insist on putting their religion in the public square are also anti-government. At the same time they demand school prayer they also favor the abolition of public education. |
