Face the absence of evidence of nuclear weapons, and call out McCain on following the WMD-scare George Bush followed with Iraq.

Great clip but I wonder at Obama's opening comments on his need for relationships with Israel and the Jews, ..................

Boy, sure seems like Iran is building or bluffing to build to bomb to me.

Yes, but remember how certain it seemed that Saddam was doing the same thing? And the IAEA insisted he was not?

I know. And I follow these things quite closely. This is a different situation. Of course we need to know more but the Iranian threat is real (and some of the blame can be pegged to El Presidente Bush since he showed that he will only invade nations without nukes - Iraq v. N. Korea). The question, to me, is not whether Iran can build one but how long would it take to put one together. It would not surprise me if they could put one together in days.

And no, it was not certain to me despite the Bush propaganda campaign of that time.

You were wise!
Regarding putting a bomb together, several Iran-watchers have pointed out to me that Iran is still a developing country, and often begins projects it does not finish.
I'd be surprised if they could do it anytime soon. And to be sure, they have no delivery means for threatening the USA. I can't imagine they'd be stupid enough to use it in the Middle East. Ahmadinejad is a populist big talker, but he is neither particularly influential in foreign policy, nor especially well regarded by those higher in the food chain.
It is also true that Iran's economy is entirely dependent upon oil, and they know that at some point that oil will run out, so they'd better get something cooking...

I stand partially (I think) corrected. Best estimates are Iran bomb 2010 to 2015. That is 2 to 7 years out. But Iran _is_ working on getting there...

I corrected myself too soon. The more liberal estimates state that they could have the bomb by years end (2008).

Of course their building a bomb, with the "Big Satan" breathing down your neck, who wouldn't. Question is, what to do about it?

Bomb?

Invade?

Negotiate?

Options have gotten pretty thin with the fiasco in Iraq.
