cillby says: wow, just 4 days out a shelter and in a new home! Who said dobermans were bad with kids! I love to circulate good stories. Hooray for the dog and the little girl!! Well trained and well behave dogs are not. Dobermans are great guard dogs and protectors. What a great story! From the shelter Khan went into what he saw as his new 'pack'. He became part of the 'pack', and it is instinctual to defend other members of the 'pack,' for the sake of the 'pack' Where Dogs become confused is when they are trained to do things that are unnatural or counterintuitive, but they seem to be aware that the vulnerability of children means they need more protection. The fact that the threat was a snake would only changed the approach. I keep thinking that the dog sees the child, as we see a puppy, but the dog sees the child as being above it in the pack. Of course I'm writing way too generally. While many dogs may have had the potential to deal with the snake, many wouldn't. But he did. I'm always glad to see positive stories about so called "dangerous breeds." Thanks for the clip! lovin the extra info pokkets... The story actaully made me shed a tear hooray for dogs! Man's true friend! Stories like that just amaze me! |
