Let them live in their gated communities. It will make it easier to find them, when the poor have had enough of their BS. Like the French revolution. The arrogance of the rich, could not protect them against the disgust of the poor. You know, I seem to remeber, way back when in the Cold War, that one of the criticism leveled at the Soviet elites was they they lived in their private dachas, had their own Zil limousines, did not have to wait in line for bread and butter and their kids got guaranteed jobs and top spots at the best universities. Some would say that because they controlled the State they where abusing their power, but really with all the money spent lobbying and buying Senators and Presidential races, cutting services for the rest of the population and paying less taxes than the rest, in a way, the rest of the population is supporting them, through their labor and taxes. Any system taken to the extreme becomes broken in the same way. The death of the middle class is the death of The American Dream. The murder weapon is the anti-middle-class vote of the $50K/yr GOP fundie believing that God gave him his to keep and is on his side against the slackers who don't have. I saw it all coming when Reagan got elected. Labor negotiations were fairly cordial after WWII until the 80's. Then came Ronald. We sat across the table form corporate lawyers who said in no uncertain terms that a "new world order" was upon us. Where management's offices had once been relatively spartan, they soon grew into corporate county clubs. Now, in the never ending search for cheap labor, we're exporting our brand of 'greed is not enough' corporate capitalism to China where 24 million people are currently unemployed. |
