This is insane. What exactly, Adam, that advertizers paying to have their ads aired, have the right to say when, and associated with what programs? This a pretty fundamental reality of advertizing. It's just crazy that there are so many big names worried about the implications of bieing aired on AA. To me that's being pansy and petty; they should be worried about the consumer listeners that could decide to boycott. I for one could go without most of them, but damn is that a big list. I guess I'll just have to shop on-line, forgo Windoze, and try to remember where not to buy. Its too bad the whole media industry cannot commodize advertising the way utilities are done. The broadcastor ought distribute the ads randomly or algorithmically. We really pay too much to be marketed to. Do we know what we need to survive? Yes, for the most part. Do we know what we need to be fashionable? No, nor do I care to be. |
