Netvibes here. I have tried other readers, but I find the page layout with headlines much easier to use. Pageflakes is cool too, just happened to find Netvibes first.

Ditto in reverse, nsooners - it's good to see some loyalty in our throwaway world.

Sage here. But one question for you guys. It's going to sound silly. Why do you need more than one?

You don't. We've got issues.

No, seriously, that's part of it, but what happens is you begin with one, you hear about another and give it a try. Sometimes it's an obvious choice between those two, and you dump one, sometimes not, so now you have two in evaluation.

Oops, then comes another, and so on and so on

In general though, if you want to be prepared to access your feeds in any situation; in my case I have one browser based, Sage, one web based, Netvibes or Bloglines, and one local desktop reader, FeedExplorer.

I recently downloaded opensource RSSOwl, it's really not bad for desktop rss, lots of features to play with, I can bet others are probably charging for something they provide for free. People usually treat Netvibes as start page, but if you use it strictly for web based rss then it wins hands down over anyone else, just delete everything from default page and start adding your feeds from scratch, build different tabs, works like a charm.

Am I the only sucker that actually paid for FeedDemon? I like it, though.

Don't be silly Enbar, of course there are others. The rate is one per minute. Do the math.

I tried FeedDemon and RssOwl, and didn't like either.

Does FeedExplorer let you save or mark feeds for later reference? I really hope to see this feature in Netvibes, sometime I don't have time to read but I'd like to flag and find stuff later.

I've paid for FeedDemon as well (on two separate occasions), in addition to NewzCrawler. Unfortunately, I too have the aggregator addiction, and have tried more desktop apps than I care to even bother to list, and I'm still looking for the perfect one.

Speaking of FD and aggregators in general--ghiberti, I've been bounced from both GMail and Comcast, I'm suspecting your SMTP admin just doesn't like me. I suspect the information I originally was going to send is stale like last month's bread by now anyway.

I know what i want in an aggregator, and so far nothing really supplies it -- that is an easily configurable river of news display. FeedDemon comes closest, in the programs I've looked at.
