The issue with Carrie Prejean was not where someone stands on gay marriage, but where he stands on civil discourse. She just articulated how she defined marriage — which is how all societies have defined the institution since time began, by gender difference. As proven by the defeat of Prop 8, saying untruths and making vicious attacks against conservatives, and ignoring that fact their own party is not supporting them, is the formula for failure. The real test to see if gay marriage advocates have learned the lessons from their failure to defeat Prop 8 at the ballot box will be how they respond to this decision. Should they respond as did many angry activists in the wake of the passage of the proposition, they reduce their chances of changing the constitution. I'm sick of people using this as a platform to go on about free speech. Prejean was asked a valid question, and her answer, just like every other contestant's answer to any questions they were asked, was used to judge the final outcome. That was entirely the point of the whole segment. There are judges there for a reason, and they did their job. The real issue for right wingers is that their little puppet didn't get the treatment they thought she should. Oh well, the better person won. I'm sorry? And, she was not fired because of that. The winners have certain functions they have to carry out. Obviously she wasn't doing them so she was fired. "When Trump initially decided to keep Prejean on, Lewis' co-executive director, former Miss USA Shanna Moakler resigned in protest. "My faith has been restored in the Miss Universe Organisation and with Donald Trump," Moakler said in a statement after the announcement. Maybe Miss Prejean decided that there was something more important in life than a title, a faux image, the constant attacks and attempts at humiliating her. I do wish she had just resigned initially but I don't think she really, really believed that this issue would make a minority rabid. I am in shock that K2 Productions and the Miss California USA Pageant have taken the steps to fire Carrie Prejean today. The claim that she has an unauthorized book contract is false. She does not. The claim that she is refusing to appear is false. Carrie has been in constant contact with pageant officials seeking to fulfill her obligations. I have emails in my possession tied to the pageant organization as recently as last Friday citing future appearance requests for Carrie. She represented the Pageant in Las Vegas the weekend before last, and is scheduled to appear at a Special Olympics event this weekend in California, a cause dear to her heart.
