masbury says: Georgia Republican Congressman Phil Gingrey will make money if the aircraft the Pentagon doesn't want is built. He's stuck it back in the bill from which it had been removed. Smaller government, Rep Gingrey? Sec of Defense doesn't want it, and Gingrey has two conflicts of interest-jobs in his district and his investment-and we're listening to him? Does the Secretary of the Air Force want these planes? Um-his words: “The Congress still has an opportunity to take a deep breath and really determine whether their judgment to proceed here is better than that of the secretary of defense, the chairman [of the Joint Chiefs of Staff], and the rest of the defense leadership,” he said. “We’re not going to mortgage the future of the Air Force on one airplane.” Any time the Republicans invoke the "small government" mantra, what they're really calling for is government by the rich, for the rich, at the expense of the poor and middle class. |
